| Description: | Baker Tractor traces its roots to E. G. Hayes, an original Ford Model T and Fordson Tractor dealership, established in 1927. Stanley Baker took over the tractor side of the business and formed Baker Tractor Corp. in 1947 F. T. (Mickey) Chadwick joined the company in 1953 as a salesman. He was made general manager in the late 1950’s and he purchased the firm in 1974. His son, Bill Chadwick began part-time in 1975, as a truck driver, while he was still in school. He joined the firm full-time in 1979 and after holding several posts Bill Chadwick was promoted to General Manager in 1990 and shortly later becoming President. Mickey Chadwick passed away in 1992. Outgrowing the original location E, G. Hayes built in 1927 firm moved to North Swansea and now operates out of a 35,000 square foot facility on seven acres at 2283 Grand Army Highway, Swansea, Massachusetts. Today Baker Tractor has grown to become a mid-size dealership and is the authorized dealer in Southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island for some most respected names in construction, utility and agriculture equipment, such as New Holland Agricultural/Utility, Hyundai Construction Equipment, JCB Construction Equipment plus a host of trailer and attachment manufacturers. We provide equipment sales and rentals plus parts and service support to wide variety customers including the private sector, municipal, Federal and State government entities. |
